Affirmations Can Change Your Life!
Can speaking positive affirmations, out loud or to one’s self, on a regular basis really change your life, at least in part, for the better?
There are quite a few demonstrations to support the efficacy of positive affirmations to bring about more desirable circumstances, from “creating” a parking spot or a new job, to attracting a soul mate, or to cultivating inner peace. We might want to take a personal “reality check,” however, to make sure that we genuinely have no doubt that thought, our thought, has creative power before we try to transform the conditions in our life through a constant “mental focus” on the changes we desire, so that we’re not merely fooling ourselves.
If we are convinced that “certain occurrences” in our individual life have no mental cause or thought equivalent, but instead are entirely and irrefutably physical in origin, then how can we presume to positively affect the circumstances in our individual life through positive affirmations? What difference would it make for us to make an effort to “change our thinking” about our self, or a particular issue, if we didn’t have a conviction that by doing so we could “change our life”? It is a prerequisite that we have at least a “mustard seed” of faith in the power of our mental focus and affirmations move a mountain in our personal life, in order for them to work.
Everyday, each of us unhesitatingly exhibits a certain amount of faith. Have you ever been “surprised” at a sunrise? Did the possibility that the sun might not come up in the morning ever cross your mind? Most of us don’t think about our unshakable faith in the earth’s gravitational relationship to the sun. So, there you are, we all have a grain of faith, a “starter kit” of unshakable trust. We can begin with that and build a mountain of faith to put behind our affirmations.
Doing affirmations while filled with doubt, seesawing between faith and fear, is similar to putting water into a balloon rather than air. Our desires wiggle here and bulge there, but they never get off the ground. Faith gives our affirmations soaring power because true faith is mental insistence uplifted to a place of realization. Realization is the “secret” to creative mental power. When our affirmations feel true, when what we say is what we truly believe, then affirmations can really change our life.
